The Model 1873 is Winchester's most famous lever-action repeating rifle and has earned itself the title of "The Gun That Won the West". Originally manufactured from 1873 to 1923, the rifle has been reintroduced to the civilian market by popular demand and has since become an icon of the American West with the famous Forgotten Winchester incident in 2014 where an original production rifle was found leaning against a tree in Great Basin National Park undisturbed for nearly a century. The rifles feature a side loading gate for easy loading along with a single action hammer that allows the firearm to remain loaded in a safe condition by dropping the hammer.

With its tough and rugged steel cased-colored receiver, and classic round barrel with traditional sights, this rifle is as ready for serious shooting and hunting as the originals were more than 140 years ago. Cowboy Action Shooters love the reliable Model 1873 because it fires the same ammo as their revolvers. The Short Rifle Case Hardened model features a brush polished blued barrel, Grade II/III walnut stock, color case hardened crescent buttplate, semi-buckhorn rear sight, Marble's gold bead front sight, forend cap and loading gate.
